Non-league club Potters Bar Town had a special visit from the Premier League Trophy to mark £558,000 of Premier League Stadium Fund grants which has helped them transform their facilities.

Located only one train station north of Arsenal's Emirates Stadium is non-league Potters Bar Town FC - one of more than 1,000 clubs throughout the men's and women's football pyramid to have utilised the Premier League Stadium Fund.

Since 2000, more than £226 million has been provided nationwide by the Fund to support stadium upgrades, from the EFL and Women's Super League through to non-league.

To mark the start of a new season of investment, the Premier League Trophy - complete with ribbons in the colours of 2025/26 champions Arsenal - paid a visit to Potters Bar Town, beneficiaries of £558,000 from the Stadium Fund.

The club's Lantern Community Stadium has stood in the same spot since 1966 but Chair Peter Waller says today's facility would be unrecognisable to players of that generation.

 "The Premier League Stadium Fund has helped us to make improvements season after season. You look around and we've used that money to extend and refurbish our clubhouse, for new dugouts, spectator stands, WCs, converting to LED floodlights and more."

That transformation has in part been supported by Premier League funding, enabling a range of upgrades to the fan facilities, pitch and floodlights.

"Football clubs like ours are a vital part of the community," says Peter, who as a player walked through the gates for the first time 59 years ago. "We are a competitive football team, a social hub and a place for players to start out their football journeys.

"We now have 22 youth teams - and a pitch in use 50 hours a week. For millions of young footballers, whether you turn out to become Martin Ødegaard or Declan Rice, you need somewhere to first start out playing football.

"Over half a million pounds from the Premier League Stadium Fund sounds like a lot of money - and it is! But the value we're able to create and the impact it has in our local community is worth that - multiple times over.
