Creating an exceptional atmosphere and ensuring spectator safety are key to any successful football ground. We offer grant funding to help clubs develop or upgrade their spectator terracing and hardstanding, providing comfortable and safe viewing areas for fans.
When planning new uncovered spectator terracing, we look for bound surfaces such as concrete or tarmac to ensure durability and safety.
To guarantee every fan has a clear view of the action:
- Standing capacity on flat/level surfaces is considered up to a depth of 1.5m from the pitch perimeter.
- Beyond this depth, hardstanding areas must be stepped to provide an unobstructed view.
- All stepped terracing should be meticulously designed in accordance with the latest edition of the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (The Green Guide). Adhering to these standards ensures the highest levels of safety and quality for your supporters.
Investing in high-quality terracing and hardstanding not only improves safety but also significantly enhances the overall matchday experience for your spectators, allowing them to fully engage with every moment of the game.
